Our History

1988

Orient Marine Co., Ltd. was established as an independent company through the separation of ship management, chartering, and operations from Mitsui & Co., Ltd.'s Marine & Offshore Division.

2001

Opened the Amsterdam Office as its first overseas base and began chartering/operations targeting European shipping companies.

2005

Opened the Singapore branch as an Asian hub and commenced vessel operation/management for bulk carriers and tankers.

2006

Opened the European Office in Hamburg, Germany, consolidating the Amsterdam Office to strengthen chartering/operations for European shipping companies.

2018

Opened our Geneva Branch in Switzerland, a strategic hub for major grain traders worldwide, deepening our engagement in the markets.

2021

Opened our Copenhagen Branch in Denmark—one of the world's leading maritime nations—deepening our engagement with clients.

2022

Opened our office in Imabari, the center of Japan's maritime cluster, deepening our engagement with local maritime stakeholders.
